So you’ve decided to build the home of your dreams and now comes the daunting task of drafting a layout, hiring a contractor, getting a construction crew in place, and figuring out all the other things you need to do to build your home. You decide to do a quick Google search to help sort through all the things you need to do and you come across some articles that compare an on site build to a manufactured home. You’re not quite sure what a factory home is so you keep reading. You’re intrigued.
Have you ever thought of owning a manufactured home? A manufactured home, also referred to as a factory built home, is a type of prefabricated house that is assembled in a factory and then transported to the site of use and set up on the appropriate foundation. Outside of this industry, these homes are known as mobile home or trailers but these aren’t your mom’s mobile homes anymore. The factory built home industry has long surpassed the stereotypical mobile home that is usually portrayed in TV and film. Nowadays, driving down residential streets, you’d be hard pressed to tell the difference between a manufactured home and an on site build home.
